Best with heavy-weight 16/17oz tartan, as it sits and hangs the best. It holds its shape and is not any warmer than a medium-weight 13oz kilt. It is what you wear on the top half of your outfit that builds up the heat.
Our 8 yard kilts are - Made in Scotland & cut for growth, allowing room for alteration in years to come. Our kilts come with 3 buckles and straps that have 3 to 4 inches of adjustment up or down. Designed to last a lifetime.

The kilt should sit at the middle of the knee, with the top of the kilt positioned about 1.5" above the hip bone at the natural waist. Height is an important factor when determining the correct length.

Anyone can wear a kilt. Most popularly worn by people with Scottish or Celtic ancestry. Celts and Scots have gone worldwide and anyone is welcome to wear the kilt. You can wear the kilt for formal or casual events worldwide.
Many accessories can be worn with a traditional kilt such as sporrans, kilt hose, belt and buckle, kilt pin and a pair of Ghillie Brogues. And don't forget a nice dress shirt and jacket if you're going to a formal event.
The kilt is a cultural icon in Scotland — a knee-length piece of clothing, 8 yards of cloth wrapped round the body, typically made with pure new wool woven tartan.
We believe that everyone should represent their clan for such a special moment in their lives. At Houston Kiltmakers, we thrive in providing all grooms with a kilt they will cherish and remember for years to come. Our kilts are built to last a lifetime.
If you're curious about your Scottish roots, check out our tartan finder and you can discover the history of your clan.
The kilt came from Scotland in the Highlands, originating before the 16th century, with some inspiration from similar Irish, European and Asian garments as well.
