• We recommend opting for a 13oz Medium-weight or 16oz Heavy-weight cloth
• This sits and hangs the best, holds it shape and is more flattering than the Light-weight 11oz for kilts and skirts
• 16oz Heavyweight cloth looks best for ladies 4 & 6 yard kilts or billy kilts
• Billy kilts, mini kilts and 4 yard kilts in Heavy-weight cloth are not any warmer than Light-weight 11oz. It performs and lasts better throughout its lifetime
• 13oz Medium-weight is best for hostess kilts and 6 yard kilts

• 8 Yards - The full 8 yards is ideal for pipe bands and the authentic traditional look. Around 5% of customers go for this.
• 6 Yards - A good all round kilt, it will give a good swing and is full-bodied. This is what 50%
  customers go for.
• 4 Yards - Features slightly fewer pleats and is easy to wear. It is a light and fun summer kilt, around 45% of customers go for this.

All kilts can be hand or machine stitched by our exceptional master kiltmakers.

We recommend choosing a normal sett, where the pleats are aligned with the natural repeat of the tartan — this is the most popular option among our customers.

Alternatively, kilts can be pleated to a specific coloured line, offering a unique variation where each pleat follows the same stripe, creating a distinctive look from front to back.

Kilts can be made up to 28 inches in length, with the average ladies’ kilt sitting just above the knee.

All our kilts include 1.5 inches of adjustment up or down and are cut for growth, making it easy to adjust in future by simply moving the buckles and straps.

A mini kilt features the same construction as a kilt and can be made in 11oz Lightweight, 13oz Medium-weight or 16oz Heavy-weight. It features a plain front apron and pleats around the back. It is a shorter version of the traditional ladies' kilt.

We recommend 4/6 yards of 13oz or 16oz cloth as it sits best, holds its shape and is not any warmer than a 11oz kilt. A machine stitched kilt is the best choice for this style. The average kilt length on a ladies mini kilt is to middle of thigh or a little higher depending on preference.
