This elegant Imitation Staghorn Day Sgian Dubh has an emblem of one of Scotland’s icon mounted in the top of the handle – the Lion Rampant! The Lion Rampant has had associations with Scotland that can be traced back as far as the 12th century and it appears on the Royal Banner of Scotland.
Sgian Dubh (also written as ‘skean dhu’) is a small blade that was used by Highlanders to cut scraps of food. They were also hidden in the sock or under the arm when visiting a rival, and produced if there was any trouble!
Day Sgian Dubhs are best suited to wear at casual or informal events. Highland Games, outdoor gatherings and garden parties are example of where best to wear. They match with several jacket styles, but work best with Tweeds.
