Hand Ties are becoming a popular item for many Weddings! Hand fastenings are a historical symbol for 'Betrothal' or 'Wedding'. The term appeared in the Early Modern History of Scotland (16th and 17th Centuries), most notably in the Hebrides. They have been used throughout the years at weddings across Scotland!
Hand Ties are generally 5-foot-long and 2" or 3" wide, and two hand ties can be sewn together. Usually tartans from the Groom and Brides ancestry is used, but any tartan can be chosen!
The hand ties are wrapped around the couple’s hands during the ceremony, reflecting the connection they are about to create!
