Kilts may be pleated to the set as normal, or regimental set pleated on the line where a tartan has a predominant stripe.

Normal Set Most cutomers get the kilt pleat made to normal set, with the pattern of check running to set, as this is more pleasing to look at. We strongly recommend this style.	Regimental Set A few customers get the kilt pleats made to regimental set with a line, usually white , or a predominant stripe running vertical. This style is usually reserved for 19oz extra heavy cloth and is for the army. Please note that some tartans can not be regimental set.
